Getting Familiar with Design Studio 1.1

Today this product is now generally available and without a ramp-up.  This is the first release of the product since it went generally available last November, 2012.

I was fortunate to read Martjin van Foeken's installation blog from earlier this morning and reviewed his steps prior to my installation.  Additionally Jeroen van der A has written a blog today on CSS features which I hope to try out later, as I recently completed an online course in CSS.

First thing I noticed after installing is the additional views as shown below:

The Additional Properties becomes important when changing chart properties.

See below:

After executing in the browser, you can hover over and see the numbers as shown below:

A new feature is the combination charts as shown below:

Similar to Analysis Office 1.4, Waterfall charts are also available:

My sense after just looking at the newest version of Design Studio is in line with what ASUG Annual Conference speaker Mark Cooper said last month - you do not need to be a programmer to use this tool, it is fairly easy to start using fairly quickly.

I look forward to reading other community members' experiences with Design Studio 1.1.  Do you have ideas for SAP Design Studio?  Check out the new Design Studio area on Idea Place.
